What I can't get over is why Maxim Vengerov is the list's favorite recording of the Shosty. Rather than, say, Oistrakh. Or why the Beethoven concerto is #1 on the list.
But as for Sibelius...yeah. Why not Kavakos, Kuusisto, Heifetz, Neveu...? Then again, Leila Josefowicz is a superb violinist. She was the first soloist in Esa-Pekka Salonen's violin concerto. She knew it from memory by the first rehearsal, and she truly plays the hell out of it. So I wouldn't be too surprised if she made a knock-out Sibelius.
