According to Karl Ekman ("Jean Sibelius. His life and personality", 1936) in the performance of the Coronation Cantata (1896): "The TRUMPET blower arrived very drunk and could not be sobered in any way."
So, I think that there is a mistake in the Tawaststjerna and Barnett's book. Mr. Barnett was wondered because of this, really there isn't a tuba part in the score. Probably the english translation from Tawaststjerna was wrong, isn't it?
