Here in Brighton/UK a Finnish bar has just opened: yes, it serves Lapin kulta (only in bottles but better than nothing).
My current favourite among Finnish beers is Urho - pleasantly full flavour. Smile

We need a Finnish bar in San Diego!

We have a restaurant called Henry' Finnish Pub, but the name is, more or less, the most Finnish thing about the place. The chef/owener is Finnish, hence the name.

Plus they have fancy sounding dishes like "Pizza Finllandia," which is basically pizza with salmon on it!

The two Finnish beers I"ve had are Lapin Kulta and Karhu. Both are not bad!

Beer is so good. Fortunately we have so many kinds. I like specially dark beers , like porter. You should taste Russian and Estonian and .... We should have a beer club but it is difficult via internet. But, see

Thanks for the insight into Czech light beers I should try, Kurki. The Pilsner Urquell is fairly easy to find here in the states, I believe.

I'm curious Andrew, just how popular is the "Finnish pub" in England?

I've only been once so far - Midsummer 'party' (=48-hour opening licence, ha!) and it was pretty busy then. I wish it well - and not only because it is run by friends-of-friends. I would be happy to assume the role of researcher into the enduring popularity of Finnish bars in Brighton on behalf of the Forum. Wink
