It is fairly well known that Sibelius seems to allude to his Valse Triste towards the end of the Seventh Symphony, though quite unintentionally so according to Sibelius himself.
But I have recently come across another claim that is new to me:the theme from the violin concerto second movement is present in the 7th, after the great trombone statement it is the theme on the long whole notes with falling fourths.
Anyone else noticed this?--kullervopete.
