In short, a new Lemminkäinen Suite by Vänskä/Lahti S.O. (BIS-1745, recorded in 2006 and 2007), though some material already published on BIS-1645 (As Andrew B indicated) .

The older one recorded in 1999-01-11/15 (BIS-1015).

Looking forward to it. Very Happy

Storgårds is sounding fine. Played 3rd and 6th so far. The 6th is somewhere between Berglund and Vänskä for tempi. Berglund is too slow for in parts.

Karjan box on Warner. This is the EMI recordings

reviewer:
This box-set consists of Herbie's recordings from the mid-70s and early 80s. EMI had already remastered these recordings and skilfully so; the improvement here is minimal (if at all).

Yeah, thanks, I have most of that on EMI. Not the Rossini and I don't care for his Handel. My disc with 6,7 and Tapiola is fine.

I got some of them, too. But separating Karajan's Sibelius achievements into two box is really annoying. Sad

The box I linked is the EMI recordings 1976-1981. It's economical. I have his 1950s and 1960s too. I like the 6th from 1981.

There is also a Sibelius Symphony No. 4 on BBC Legends.

To my knowledge, Sargent and BBCSO also recorded 2nd Symphony for EMI. But not included in this boxset.

Inkinen already made the cycle with New Zealand S.O. not long ago (Naxos), with mixed review. This cycle pay tribute to the Sibelius Year.

I wonder if the BIS disc is just a compilation, or a new recording.

New recording, made in 2014 with Sibelius's own Steinway piano in Ainola.
