Looking at the strange word "Aloipat", I knew it looked familiar but I couldn't figure out why! Great username.

A big welcome to our newest member, Lisztfreak, who I know and love from the Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! | forum.
Interesting he should join this particular week, when my orchestra is playing Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 1... in my 3 years with the orchestra, this is the first time we are playing Liszt! _________________

Hi, everyone! And thank you, Kurki! Glad to be here (finally). I feel a strong urge to talk about Sibelius, since I recently got to know and love the music of this great symphonist.
The trombone theme from the 7th which plays when entering the forum is magnificent! _________________ 'You have to have a personal relationship with a cigar. It must be treated with respect and elegance.' J. Sibelius |

Nice signature, Lisztfreak!
You have correctly identified the forum's theme music, but just as a little aside, the excerpt is from the end of the symphony, bar 505, just before letter Ö, where horns and bassoons play the line, with trombones sustaining a C+ chord underneath.
But yes, it is the "trombone" theme nonetheless. _________________

The Hansen edition has rehearsal letters in the score, and they go beyond Z, thus the Ö... _________________

A warm welcome to Keemun, who has been registered for a while but did not receive his confirmation e-mail from ForumUp... a common problem.
If you notice Keemun around the forums, take a look at his unique avatar, quite nice. _________________

Thanks Kurkikohtaus for the welcome. I was looking for the introductions area yesterday but didn't find it. I guess I didn't look very hard since I found it today.
My avatar shows a brewed cup of keemun tea surrounded by keemun tea leaves. I thought it artistically worthy of an avatar.
As for my introduction, I chose the name "Keemun" because it is one of my favorite teas. I first became interested in Sibelius several years ago when I heard the Second Symphony (Barbirolli/Hallé, 1966) several years back. Since then I've acquired (and listened to) all of Sibelius' symphonies, many tone poems, the violin concerto and Kullervo. _________________ Thank God for tea! What would the world do without tea? Hi everyone and a belated hello from Kullervopete. Since joining in June I have been so busy moving around the forum and reading so many facinating contributions [plus sending in a few of my own] that I never noticed this bit of the proceedings! As a keen member of the UK Sibelius society I hope that I can contribute a few interesting things. Also a big thank you to Kurkikohtaus for giving me my great avatar.--kullervopete. _________________ Peter Frankland |

Hello! I hope I can make somewhat of a contribution around here, but my hopes aren't up too high...
I've been listening to Sibelius' music for a while now, though not quite so much (in quantity) as I'd like to have done. Cheers! |
