|
|
Helsingin Sanomat 21.9.
Jean Sibelius ja Eurooppa saavat kalenteriin omat liputuspäivät. Päivät löytyvät ensimmäisen kerran vuoden 2011 kalenterista. Tähän asti sisäministeriö on vain suosittanut liputtamista näinä päivinä.
Jean Sibeliuksen eli suomalaisen musiikin päiväksi tulee 8. joulukuuta.

Yay!!!!! Fantastic!
Our man is getting his own flag day (in Finland), 8th December, starting in 2011. Well it's also known as 'Finnish Music Day' but the choice of the day makes it clear enough who it's for.
Pity we don't quite manage flag days here in the UK. I suppose people would steal them. Or those putting them up would be castigated by the police for flying them at the wrong angle (technically it is an offence here). _________________

I'm surprised something like this was not thought of sooner...
But it's great news. _________________ "Music is not philosophy."

Many thanks Andrew and Harri .
I normally do request not to work the 8/12 by putting it in our duty request diary ..."Anjali would like the night off for Sibelius's birthday" and have had a few NHS staff ask me if Sibelius was my son!
That is great news indeed. |

Sibelius your son? By my maths that would make you 168 years old (Maria Borg was born in 1841).
Some years ago Robert von Bahr, the charismatic boss of BIS Records, was pressured by his family into getting a dog. He wasn't keen (I can sympathize with that!) but eventually relented on the condition that he was allowed to choose the creature's name. Yep, you've guessed it!

Brilliant Andrew !! Trust you have a good relationship with your boss either that or he is not a forum member.
Have just obtained another cd of Kullervo...Esa-pekka Salonen, LA Philharmonic and Jorma Hynninen. Just realised that none of the versions I have have JH in it. I still havent recovered from the excellent Kullervo at Lahti last year. Have just got Youth Productions part 2 or maybe 1 the one with Betsy Lerche. |
