Dear members, I'll be offline for about a week or so, I'm going to Nürnberg today and then I'm off to LAHTI for the festival!

Andrew B and Tapkaara will be there as well, we'll be sure to entertain you all with tall tales when we return.

I will be back online on the 15th of September, until then have fun here!

Kurki.

So it begins!

A Symposium indeed. I plan on getting so drunk that I will stop conducting the orchestra in the middle of a performance because I think it's a rehearsal. (I hope the citizens of Lahti won't mind.)

See you in Lahti, Andrew and Kurki!

Now look what's happened. I join the forum and immediately everyone runs away to Finland!

Hope you all have a great time there. Make sure you take hot water bottles with you, and thick blankets to keep you warm while you're sitting in the forest round the log fires in the snow, listening to the music.

Welcome aboard, Elgarian!

I don't think it will be snowing, but some rain may be in the forecast.

I'm taking my laptop so I will be able to "stay in touch" while over there.

Too bad you can't make it to Finland, too! Smile

My imagined picture now includes you all sitting round the camp fire roasting freshly caught salmon among the pines, humming the Karelia Suite, while you type an account of the proceedings on your laptop underneath an umbrella.

Welcome, Elgarian!

Add in a pepper steak and a good beer and it's maybe not too far off the mark (oh, but without the campfire).

I thought in Finland it was OK to light fires in your hotel room. I guess this country is not as savage as I thought.

Hotel room? What's all this? You can't experience the mythic roots of the music in a hotel room! A bit of shelter under some tree roots in the forest and a good thick fur to snuggle under should be all you need. How else are you going to find wood nymphs?

I think you can order the wood nymphs through room service...

Alright then. But mark my words, it'll all end in tears.

Lahti is very far from Tampere (1,5 h by car and 2 days on a reindeer, 1 day running before an ice bear)
but I try to be there on Thursday and /or Saturday. ( and of course, I´ll bring some raw meat of a bear I caught myself Cool )

On Friday I have to work here
