This season was decidedly a Mahler season; the Cincinnati orchestra presented the first and second symphonies.
This year looks to be a bit of a Sibelius year, with three of the concerts including works by Sibelius, two of which are large-scale. Sayaka Shoji plays the violin concerto in October 15-17; Finlandia is included in a program with Bruch's Scottish Fantasy and Tchaikovsky's 3rd symphony on March 19-20 of '10; and the 2nd symphony is featured on April 30-May 1.
Just thought I'd throw that out there. I was hoping a little for Kullervo, but when I saw other choral works like Carmina Burana in the programs also my hopes fell. But hey, at least I'll get to see (hopefully) good Sibelius live!
