Thanks dj, I was thinking this morning that 70 years ago the world was about to be enveloped in a second world war which witnessed the extreemes of humanity. Also on Newyears day 1939 one of the greatest human spirits of our time, Jean Sibelius came out of retirement to conduct his own Andante Festivo for the Newyork world fair. A performance of such intensity that it still resonates in the minds of those that heard it.
From the carnage, maelstrom and utter horror of those times, the visionary ideals of the Andante Festivo performance speak for all humanity--in the masters own words 'I do believe in civilisation'.
