Finland is, I imagine, top of the league when it comes to naming roads/streets after Sibelius. Helsinki, Lahti, well virtually everywhere (except Tampere I think - maybe Harri M can confirm?).

Shall we make a list of the streets/towns/countries, just for the record?

There is a Sibelius street in Prague, in Czech it is called Sibeliova.

Guess which ambassador's residence can be found there?

Yes, unfortunately Tampere has not used the name of Sibelius.

If you happen to be in Canada why not visit Sibelius Square, a small Park set up in the composers honour that stands in downtown Toronto.--kullervopete.

I can't believe I forgot about that, it has been some years since I've been there, last time was 1999, I think.

Just curious, Kullervopete, how did you find out about this?

Here's a picture of the center of the square:

That is a gorgeous picture Kurki, and a marvellous gesture to the local Finnish community.
I got my imf. from a little book that I keep consisting of Sibelian jottings and tittle tattle picked up over the years.--kullervopete.

Somehow, I always feel somehow obliged to reply to the Canadian references in this thread...

I know downtown Ottawa quite well, having been there several times, each time for several days. My most memorable visit was a week-long masterclass with the National Arts Centre Orchestra (Pinchas Zuckermann is Music Director there), with Jorma Panula as instructor. The only Sibelius piece during that week was the suite from Pelleas et Melissande.

Anyway, as for Tapiola Crescent, Good Find! Exclamation
